Get ready for an epic anime and fashion collaboration. Subtitle’s first official Jujutsu Kaisen fashion collection has launched exclusively through TOHO animation STORE US. Due to advance demand, the entire 18-piece capsule set is available now for pre-order. What makes this collection feel different right away is the brand behind it. Founded by Liang Shi, Subtitle has built its identity around the idea that anime can be treated as design language, with clothing shaped by narrative, symbolism, silhouettes, and character construction instead of simple graphic application.
Shi’s vision for anime fashion found a big audience on TikTok in 2024, where millions of viewers responded to her belief that official merch deserved a thoughtful approach. An earlier concept sketch for a custom Jujutsu Kaisen-inspired uniform also gained major attention, and that momentum eventually led to an official partnership with TOHO animation STORE US.
How Subtitle Turned Jujutsu Kaisen Into Design Language
Subtitle’s design philosophy runs through the whole collection, which is divided into two lanes: “Expand the Universe” and “IYKYK: Narrative Inspired.” The first takes the worlds of Tokyo Jujutsu High and builds outward through original uniform-based pieces. The second leans into character-driven and technique-driven garments that pull from specific details in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime without reducing them to obvious cosplay or straightforward merch.
The uniform side starts with The Uniform jacket and pants, which combine details from several student looks into a modern tailored silhouette. Subtitle points to the high collar and diagonal placket as design elements drawn from different uniforms throughout the series. The Women’s Uniform follows the same idea through a cropped jacket and skort, with details pulled from Nobara and Maki. These are joined by Yuji’s Red Hood Shirt, which transforms his signature red hoodie into a lightweight shirt designed for layering, and the Uniform Hoodie, a navy piece meant to fit naturally into the larger uniform look.
There is also the White Uniform Jacket, a bomber-style garment inspired by Yuta Okkotsu’s white uniform jacket and vertical seam details taken from Rika’s cursed form. The White Uniform Shirt serves as a simpler companion piece, reworking the shirts worn beneath the student uniforms into a clean everyday item. Together, these pieces give the “Expand the Universe” side of the capsule a clear identity. They show how Subtitle has reimagined the broader world of Jujutsu Kaisen in fashion terms.
Uniforms, Layers, and Character-Driven Pieces
The “IYKYK” section is where the character-specific ideas really start to hit. Choso’s Sleeveless Hoodie reimagines his layered vest design as streetwear, complete with a knotted cord zipper puller inspired by Blood Manipulation. Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration Jacket is one of the most ambitious garments in the lineup, a modular jacket with multiple zippers and shifting parts that allow the silhouette to transform, echoing Mahito’s cursed technique and his altered sense of form. The check pattern references his shirt, while sleeve cut-outs and other details push the concept further.
Geto’s Zip-Up Jacket goes in a more subdued but equally specific direction. Subtitle describes the faded overprint as inspired by his robes, with black-bead zipper details referencing spirit orbs and stitch-like accents tied to his forehead. Sukuna’s T-shirt draws from the colors and design of his Heian-era robes while adding layered sleeves, a custom ribbed hem inspired by his belt, and chest artwork based on his forehead marking. Nanami’s Button-Up Shirt translates his clean suit-and-tie image into a patchwork garment built from colors and textures inspired by his outfit, tie, and wrapped blade.
Several other pieces continue that same line of thinking. Nobara’s Workwear Jacket uses a chore-jacket silhouette, leather pocket, rivets inspired by her nails, and a hammer loop tied to her Straw Doll Technique. Gojo’s Unlimited Void T-shirt uses one-piece shoulder construction inspired by his blindfold and artwork connected to the overwhelming sensory flood of Unlimited Void. Megumi’s Rabbit Stampede T-shirt adds rabbit-ear cut-outs and text shaped like a rabbit nose. The Black Flash T-shirt uses contrast stitching and four separate “Black Flash” labels representing Yuji’s four consecutive Black Flashes. The Prison Realm Shirt rounds things out with a double-layer design, contrasting fabrics, and a cube-inspired pocket detail meant to evoke Gojo’s sealing.
